Please help!

I am going nuts trying to remember a series of books I read as a young girl. It is a little girl with freckles and she has a dog and they solve mysteries.
It is around 1982-85 that I read them.
This is a longshot but Im hoping someone can tell me anything. Thanks

One of the girls of the Famous Five has a dog, Tim. There are 3 other protagonists, Julian, Dick and Anne. George (or Georgina) is the one with the dog. Could this be it?

The Trixie Belden books, maybe? I can't recall if she had a dog, but definately had freckles.

I know her best friend had a dog. I believe it was an Irish Setter and it was part of the stories.

Yes, I'm inclined to think it sounds like Trixie Belden. I read them around 1981.
