Publishing an already finished book

Hallo,
A good day to all the aspiring writers out there. I have a quick question for the people in this group. First of all, I am originally from Greece, living in Berlin as a nurse in order to make a living. Meanwhile, I have already written a complete science-fiction novel, which has been around my head for a long time (in English). Having no idea about suitable publishers, I read a lot of articles on self-publishing. But everything I read till now talks about creating a suitable network, being really patient and in general give up a lot of your time to promote your book. I don't want to sound like I don't care for my book or its publication, but I have to work full time, without a chance of a sabbatical or just staying unemployed for a few months, so I can focus entirely on my books. My question then is this: Is there a way to self-publish your book by just posting it somewhere, hoping it will get noticed or is it better in cases like mine to just send a draft to a good publisher who will take up all the work? I am grateful for any help you can give me.

P.S Excuse my writing, I am really trying to improve my English at the point.

You can self publish trhough Amazon or Smashwords. If you want to pursue traditional publishing you'll need an agent. Most publishers do not accept unagented manuscripts. There are some smaller publishers and e publishes who

Can't one be their own agent? How does one find an agent as a debutant writer anyway?

No, you can't agent your own book with the large publishers. Small publishers may accept direct from author submissions, You have to check each publisher's Submission Guidelines.

To find an agent use resources like AgentQuery.com and Publishers Marketplace. Cross reference with a site like Absolute Write to check their reputation so you know they are legitimate and successful agents with verified sales.

That's for people who write in English. What about the writers who write in their native language and then want their book to be translated in various languages and published internationally?
