Practice for the LSAT in order to become a lawyer and you'll reach the 600s or 700s, they have to be good at scanning a lot of material, yet learning what the information is.
I read the paragraph closely and came in at 512. Didn't do the exercises. I can do 200-450 pages in a 3 hour period depending on the book and the level of interest I have in it and noise around me.
I think it all depends on if the author has captured your interest. You have to be interested in order to really get into it and start doing some hard heavy reading. Well, thats the case for me anyway.
In 2-3 hours, I can read about 400-450 pages. I always get into books, and if unstopped, can read 1000+ pages in one sitting. It happened when I read the last two Harry Potter books in less than 24 hours. It always depends on how interesting the books are, how big the font is, and if I have any interruptions.
Normally, I will read about 1 1/2-2 pages per minute. I don't have time to take the test though for wpm. Sorry!
I never have tried to read for speed except when I need to return a library book the next day and haven't finished it! ^^ I just always have read fast.
I haven't a clue what my wpm is. But in 2 hours I might read around 60-70 pages. Am I slow or what??? Oh well, if I read too fast I don't understand what the heck is going on so I go slow.
Three hour sitting of reading? An hour and a half is about as much I can get before the kids start bugging me to play or to get something for them. Late at night, the same time span is good. Beyond that, I get too sleepy at midnight or 1 a.m.
