R.I.P. Andy Griffith

The episode of the Andy Griffith show that stuck with me through all these years was one where Andy was teaching his son Opie how to handle a bully. Andy told him to tear into the bully "like a windmill in a tornado", in his relaxed Sheriff Andy Taylor way. Would any television show today dare to teach standing up and fighting back against bullies?

"When a man carries a gun all the time, the respect he thinks he's getting might really be fear. So I don't carry a gun because I don't want the people of Mayberry to fear a gun. I'd rather they respect me. " ~ Sheriff Andy Griffith

The Andy Griffith Show was a couple decades before my time but I still enjoyed watching the re-runs as a kid.

I didn't watch the Mayberry show much, but did watch him as Matlock. He was fantastic. Loved his humor. :)
