Reminds me of TV debate I saw once. Someone had pitted a professor of medicine against a quack who sold "magnetic mattresses" which were supposed to cure anything from depression to cancer. Rough paraphrase:
QUACK: See, the reason it works is because we put the north magnets in one end of the mattress and the south ones in the other end.
PROFESSOR: You what?
QUACK: We put the north magnets in -
PROFESSOR: Then let me be the first to congratulate you on your upcoming Nobel Prize in physics.
QUACK: Wha...
PROFESSOR: All magnets have a north pole and a south pole. That's what makes them magnets. There's no such thing as a magnet that's only north or only south.
QUACK: But...
PROFESSOR: It doesn't exist. It's impossible.
QUACK: But... But... Well, scientists say bees can't fly but the bees don't care and they fly anyway, so there!
