He's probably cleaning the inside of his trunk (maybe he's really, really anal about cleanliness) and it is really hot outside (he could be wearing Daisy Dukes). Yeah, I don't really buy that explanation either. Maybe he is doing a test fit for an upcoming job?

The dog is easier explained: it is the result of the image stitching software. There are some amusing examples of it out there including people with normal sized bodies and pin heads and hovering torsos.
