Random Question..Keep posting

I get horrible heartburn with certain foods, particularly cucumbers and watermelon. Of course, I LOVE watermelon:innocent:
(Good choice on the chili; I made a triple batch this morning..took some to Mr. Abc's work for a shindig there)

Same question

I find I'm getting heartburn easier as I get older. Some foods don't stick with me, and I'm hungry an hour later, which is annoying. Also, Coors Light wreaks havoc on my system.

Do you own paper encyclopedias?

Yes...They're 26 years old; I'm hoping dh will let me purge them soon. I can't remember the last time anyone used them for something besides making tents in the basement.

Would you keep such a set or send them packing and use the shelf space for more up to date books?

I'm trying to decide that myself. I've an old set myself. :D With the web, I almost never open them.

Will we ever populate Mars?

If we do, something in the atmosphere will alter us and turn us into 'little green men', who will try to go back to Earth, only to find themselves hurled through a wormhole that lands them back 100 years or more before that colonization effort..thereby creating the 'little green men' myth.

Do you think we'll ever get outside the Milky Way galaxy(manned flights)?

Do you think we'll ever get outside the Milky Way galaxy(manned flights)?

The current thinking in physics is that mass cannot move faster than the speed of light and the Milky Way is very, very, very big. I wouldn't bet on it.

How about getting to Alpha Centauri? scale it down a bit.

There are holes in that law that tell us we can get there. Not at at the speed of light, which is too slow anyway, but using other methods yet to be defined. We have already put a photon in two places at one point in time. Physics allows for it.

That said, I have my doubts that the species will let itself survive long enough to actually live up to our potential.

It is as God wills?

I'm agnostic, maybe.

Einstein's God or Darwin's God?

Only if you are a bean counter.

Chili was mentioned earlier, I just made a pot of vegetarian chili with pumpkin and sweet potatoes in it...would you be willing to try it?

Too hot in June for pumpkins.

(No kidding, this Pumped-Up Chili is fantastic! I have it entered in two contests this week.)

Do you like pumpkin pie? (can you tell I'm ready for Thanksgiving?)

Pumpkin pie is second only to sweet potato pie in my never to be humble food opinion.

Whipped cream with the orange pie or no?

Hells yeah.

Have you ever bought a "natural" turkey, such as a non-domesticated, or free-range kind?

Why isn't pumpkin just as good in June?

I drank pumpkin juice in July during Kazakhtrip. It was pretty good.

Yes. I used to buy free-range turkeys before I relocated.

I am planning an "American Thanksgiving" for my non-American friends at my residence in Bavaria.

Here is the menu:

Turkey
Ham
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Yams (with and without marshmallows)
Green bean casserole
Cranberry sauce
Rolls
Pumpkin pie
Apple pie

What am I missing?

Happy. The world doesn't deserve 4 years of Romney and a quest to roll back women's rights to 1880, the economy is recovering and I'd rather see credit given where credit is due rather than the new guy, Obama is more pro-environment than Romney, and not having to focus on being re-elected I am anxious to see what Obama's going to do.
