Rating Threads

Rating threads is a practice that is not often used here, so when a thread gets a rating I'm always intriqued by it. Mainly, I wonder who is it that's providing the rating? Is there a way to tell who actually provides this?

There's no way to tell who's doing the rating. The admin probably has a way to access that information, but i't's not readily available. Frankly, I barely notice the ratings.

I don't even understand what that means! Rating a thread for what? Punctuation?

I think it's just a different way to "publically" say how much you like a thread. But since it's very rarely used, and you can't tell who's posting the rating, I find it confusing more than anything.

What happens if someone rates a thread at 4 stars, and then I come along and think it's only worth 1 star?

Can a rating be changed, or over-ruled?

Can the author of the thread rate his/her own work?

In this case an average is given and the figure rounded up to the nearest whole number.

Yes, however they you can only vote once and the vote can not be changed.

I suppose it's just a pointer: if a thread has a lot of worthwhile discussion or made you laugh or whatever, you can rate it highly. Then others might look at the thread where they wouldn't have otherwise. But I've never considered rating a thread, I must admit, so it's all a bit academic...

It's simple:

Click on rating

It then brings up a drop down box

Choose your rating and click Vote :)

Wow???? A thread can be rated terrible....I actually never knew that...as I have never rated a thread.

That's pretty damn harsh isn't it? Rating a thread terrible, and even bad...

Don't we have a thread on "if you can't say something nice...."
