I'd recommend Twilight and it's sequel New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. Great stories about vampires set in Washington state. The third one just came out last week, too.

I'd also recommend Forever by Pete Hamill. It's about a man who lives for hundreds of years in New York - very cool. The only thing is that it's got some mature scenes and language.

I tend to think that the Pratchett books are pretty realistic, and they're undoubtably fantasy novels, but I'm not particularly picky about that really. Colour of Magic isn't one of his best, though. I'd go with Reaper Man or Night Watch personally, or if you really want a stronger pull of fantasy, something in Lancre with Granny Weatherwax.

from what I've heard, Color of Magic is one of his worst. I personally haven't read it. The ones I did enjoy are Mort and Wyrd Sisters.

Also, I suggest to you the Bartimaeus Trilogy. A really wonderful fantasy series set in an alternative London with lots of magic and suspense. I love it as much as I love harry potter, and I am obsessed with Harry Potter. And when you've read the series, I have a website dedicated to it, check out the link in my signature!

A good sci-fi/fantasy book is 'The Traveler' by John Twelve Hawks. It's a trilogy, but only book one and two are released right now. The other one is 'The Dark River.' Good, realistic reads.
