Subsitute the word "planet" for the word "country", Samerron, and you and I'll be singing the exact same song. That being said, I'm feeling very, very proud of how you've come through this without evincing bitterness or the desire for revenge. You're obviously one of the good guys and God knows we need all of those like that you we can lay our hands on.

Sounds nice that nearly all the students are back, so things can get back to normal for you.

I don’t know how to express thanks to your supporting posts. It really means a lot to me, although I haven’t reached the high stage of rationality and soundness, but I guess I’m on the way. I'll be checking them whenever I'm feeling down...
 
Samerron - Funny while I was reading this, I heard an Israeli Jet fighter above Beirut. Believe me, it's terrifying to hear these jets that not-so-long-ago was bombing us.

I think of that every time a plane flys low over where I live -- that I am fortunate in that I have never in my life felt threatened by an airplane.

And Samerron! I need to tell you that your English is excellent. I was born and raised in California and your posts are easier to understand than mine are. :D :D :D

Keep up the good work and also your wonderful attitude. You are going to go far and do well. And you're going to do good also, I'm willing to wager. ;)

Well, the thanks goes for my father who cared about placing me in an English speaking school at grade 9 and thanks to the attitude I had towards books ;). I’m planning on improving it even better, by reading more, practicing my spoken English and writing in forums such as that and in magazines or newspapers (locally :p ). That’s why sometimes I try to keep my posts a bit formal.

By the way, today I made a visit to the south. The reconstruction of the infrastructure (mostly bridges) is still under way. It needs time...

I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Two more years are left for me to finish it. I'm also planning to minor in Philosophy. I'm also interested in Political Science and Sociology, since I took some elective courses in the university. I didn't know much about these topics; relatively very little. But after covering introductory materials about these subjects I found them amazing.

Well, as for my career, I'm not planning to just be an engineering, although it's great. I feel I have a stronger inclination to get into societies and maybe in political relation, although I was a science boy when I was in school.

What about you Still?

Hey you all.

When I just started my membership here I really liked that this is a non-political forum with no religion discussion and no politics is allowed. What I see here now? Opinion on Israel? On Beiruth? Just for your knowledge, I have mucho friendo in Israel and I was there the last summer. Haifa was bombed, soldiers (kids of 18-19 years old only!) kidnapped and never returned - to my knowledge. I saw suffering induced by not-such-friendly arabic countries all around. Why you would not like to have peace there? Leave Israel all alone, make some business with them instead of war - arabic and jewish nations have always been good in businesses as far as I recall. But you are coming here, to this (previously) friendly forum, spell bad things that you experience and never reminding no one that all the 6 wars (I mean the big ones of the past) were initiated by arabic countries! It is a fact, that Israel today has two good arabic neighbors- Jordan and Egypt, both have peace agreements with Israel, so go on - and do one peace agreement too! No, you do not? You prefer to blame the other side on all your misfortunes??? OK, so you prefer to kidnap Israeli people and to attac its northen borders from time to time? May be this is why you got under this bombing this time! Not extremely surprising, ah?

And for this book forum - what a shame to turn into a political one! Hartress and hate is everywhere so now it is also appeared here. Bullshit all this world!

Just to make things clear. This thread was intended to report the situation in Lebanon as I’m a Lebanese citizen who witnessed the war. I’m reporting for the people who are interested. We have tried to omit the discussion of political issues in this thread. Plus, I have presented articles to aid me explaining the situation.

If you find it biased and political and you are dissatisfied with its context and since you were in Israel in the last summer, why don’t you inform us with your own experience in another thread. I would be greatly interested to hear people from the other side of the war, and their prespective.

Your arguments that you have presented are entirely political. So, if you plan to discuss them, I suggest to present them in the Mature Discussions, and only there we can talk.

More bad news here in Lebanon. The internal situation is on high-tension. I don’t know where our leaders will take us now.
