I dislike anonymous polls.
As you may know, this one isn't one of them. Could we just agree that all BOTM polls will be open polls? Just say it will be and let it be done.

I would've voted for Stewart but... ahh nevermind
I haven't paid enough attention to the book club before. Do you make a choice well in advance? Just wondering how long one would have to obtain the book. If it's a good month in advance, it would give those of us that don't have the book time to get our hands on a copy.
I'm sorry but I don't get how this would be done. Would everyone have to suggest one book by each genre? And if so, would we still be using the "I second a book" to get to the 10 limit for the poll?
Not exactly. Once again, you just call for suggestions for one or two categories. After that, then you say, "O.k., we need 8 more selections, any genre by ay author...." and you're off to the races. So you might have two specific genres and then the other 8 books up for suggestion can be chosen just like we do now. All it takes is for a poll to be changed with new selections and life is good.
Sounds good, even more than 2?Not a problem chief, five picks, two have to be of a certain category.
I love the BOTM on BAR and when I first joined I immediately started borrowing some of the previous months BOTM winners.
My only problem comes down to my reliance on a book's availability at my library.
Other than that, my only other "issue" is with my reading speed. This generally means I prefer books with less than 600 pages. This cutoff has increased from 400 since I joined BAR, so maybe in a few more years, I could even tackle War And Peace or Les Miserables!
As for genres/non-fiction etc, I love diversity in my reading so I say bring it on!
