I was wondering if anyone might suggest a few books fiction or non-fiction on these topics. I read a collection of short samurai stories a long time ago and it was a very interesting read, I'd like to find some similar books.

The very first thing you should read about samurai and feudal Japan is The 47 Ronin Story

The Tales of the Otori series by Lian Hearn might be to your liking too. I have not read this series yet but I have the first book in my TBR stockpile.
