Robert said:It’s about an American City recognizing a ship and the sailors that manned it for their contributions to the protection or our freedoms?
A battleship being used as a floating museum in San Francisco bay I could imagine, but doing the same thing 80 miles upriver is just going to look out of place surely?Robert said:
bobbyburns said:because I asked why we can't remember what happened without spending three million dollars to remind us again why we're remembering in the first place, that's your "proof" for why it is needed? god, you're dense.

I would rather see $3 million donated to help feed starving children in durkadurkastan, or at least the ship recycled properly to make bunkers... or more weapons. Now, if it were towed to San Fran as a tourist attraction, where tourists pay ten bucks or more for walkthroughs, and all that money goes to a worthy cause... then I wouldn't mind. San Fran tourists in general are about 75% outta-towners from other countries, I would guess.
Robert said:Grow up, Bobby. What you said was "why do they need an object to remember that?" That's not a statement about money.

Robert said:It's too bad for SF. There are a lot of people that will want to visit the ship when it opens, and SF won't see a dime of it.

towing a subarmarine = $something retarded.
you still have not posted ***one*** reason why they have to have this object to recognize their freedom. game over. you can not step to my epistemic lyricism.
mehastings said:That's not necessarily true. You'd be surprised how few people are willing to pay for something like that. The city of Fall River has the Battleship Massachusetts docked there. It's an amazing museum that I've been to plenty of times. However, everytime I go there it is almost vacant. Lizzie Borden's ghost pulls in more tourism dollars.
