Hi all,

Not sure if this one is for here or the sci fi forum, but....

What are people's thoughts on Sara Douglass? I have a few books of hers to read and I'd like people who have read her to give an indication of what I can expect. All I know is that her website is pretty good and gives some nice tips on writing and stuff...

Regards,
Amanda

I've read her Battle Axis and Wayfarer Redemption trilogy, and thought that they were quite enjoyable, if not great. I found the Battle Axis trilogy to be the better of the two, but if you don't enjoy it, I don't think you will find the Wayfarer Redemption trilogy much better. Douglass also admits that the only reason why she wrote the Wayfarer Redemption was for monetary reasons

Being an Aussie author I've read a number of books by Sara Douglass. I agree about the Battleaxe trilogy being better than the Wayfarer trilogy.

Still these are her best books IMO.

I liked the original Axis trilogy (except for the sappy ending), I read the 3 books in about 3 weeks. I read the 1st book in the next trilogy Sinner and am waiting to read Pilgrim next.

I haven't read any of her books yet, but I think that the Troy series sounds interesting.
Sounds interesting yes but from what people I know who have read the books say she doesn't really manage to hold everytrhing together well enough to make it a coherent enough read...:(

I have read the Battle Axis Trilogy and the Wayfarer Redemption trilogy. I enjoyed them both equally. I've not read anything else of hers though, so I can't comment on how they are.

I really liked the Battle Axis trilogy when I first started it because it was unlike other fantasy novels I had read. Not so much in plot, but in the races she created.

I am definitely enjoying her new Darkglass Mountain series (I think that's what it's called). So far I've like most of her books, but probably the Troy Game series best.
