Hi folks!

I am looking for a book that is simple, entertaining and grounded in real life; along the lines of Animal Farm. The more it takes everyday people, places and events but makes it exciting the better.

I was looking into Elmore Leonard's, Swag so maybe I should stick with that, but hopefully you have some great ideas for me.

Thanks in advance!

Animal Farm grounded in real life? Where do you live please so I can come talk to the talking animals too? Please? ;) ;) ;)

Hahaha I knew that would come back at me as soon as I wrote it
I know you know what I mean! The more an author can take something so simple such as taking over a farm and make it a riveting read, the more in awe I am.

so in order to reasonably suggest something - you need to be a bit more specific - what genres do you like? other books besides animal farm that you have liked? authors?

there is a long way in both years and styles from George Orwell to Elmore Leonard.

Elmore Leonard appeals to me because of his skills with dialogue, Eric Larson also - even though he is non-fiction - with his ability to paint such vivid pictures.
I'm a fan of Clockwork Orange, Lord of the Flies, in the Garden of Beasts.
I'm a fan of satirical, simple, adventure fiction.
Not to bring up movies in a book forum but I'm looking for the Clerks of books, two buddies working in a grocery store yet somehow is made into a story. I must sound like an idiot but that is as close as I can peg it.

you might enjoy the Harry Bosch novels by Michael Conolly

or the
Travis McGee books by John D McDonald
