Short stories

I've always loved Bonnie Burnard's collection called Casino.
But there's also Miranda July's called...I think No On Belongs Here More Than You Do.

I just picked up a collection of short stories from my bookshelf that I've been carrying aroung for 26+ years and started reading it: "Great American Short Stories" Longmeadow Press - Complete and Unabridged. So far have made it through: Washington Irving, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar Allan Poe, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Herman Melville, Fitz-James O'Brien and am just about to start Brett Harte. All has been enjoyable except the Herman Melville. I told my partner that I just struggled through to the end "Whew!" and she said "Why force yourself to read something you don't enjoy?" I paused,,, puzzled... and replied "Because it is Herman Melville!" like that explained everything.

This sounds like another thread I read here somewhere - Do you lie about reading classics? - No, I don't but I sure suffer through some of them because I feel I "should" read them... :whistling:

Who me? I have read and posted a few,anyone want a discussion,I am here.:D

I don't do catch-up. Let me know if you want to read & discuss. I know it won't be soon since you should be working on the BOTM very shortly.

If that was what you were aiming for (to have some time before the next short story),well, you don't know who you are dealing with:D

I have been meaning to read The Horla by Maupassant.Let me know when you are ready.

I was being considerate. Anyway, are you sure you want to read that?

Thanks for being considerate Robert. They told me it's pretty good, but long.I will go through my books and maybe find something shorter?

Length is not an issue. I saw something about it being about madness and suicide.

Give me a day or three to finish what I'm reading. I think the book is cursed! Every time I pick it up, something else comes along that demands my time.
