So I have 20 books in my Amazon shopping cart

At first I only added the Stuxnet book. Then Amazon recommended a few other titles based on my selection and they looked interesting so I added them to my cart.

Wash, rinse, repeat and now I have 20 books in my shopping cart. ai5.photobucket.com_albums_y187_sparkchaser1998_smileys_1shifty.gif

I am going to need to take early retirement so I can find time to read them all.
 
I wish I could help you, but my Amazon wish list(the main one-I have several) is 14 pages long. The one for Inter-library loans is worse. As long as you have the funds and the storage room, who is harmed?
 
I haven't ordered them yet because I am waiting until I get closer to my US trip date. I'm thinking that by the time I do order, the shopping cart will have magically grown to 30 titles. ai5.photobucket.com_albums_y187_sparkchaser1998_smileys_1shifty.gif
 
I have a love-hate relationship with them.

I think this means I need to buy another Billy bookcase.

I find this Amazon thing addictive - it always surprises me when my Visa bill comes in that I've spent that much money. I don't order 20 at a time but by the end of the month I'm running pretty close to that figure.:rolleyes:
 
Its much easier if someone else in your household has the bill paying job. I rarely see the credit card statement so I don't have to acknowledge how much I spend on books. Heeheeheehee. I figure when it gets to be too much DH will let me know.

I think that is probably the crux of the matter, I think I am spending too much money and I know, very definitely, that my husband would be raising a protest so what he doesn't know won't upset him. :lol:
 
At the moment I have a big item in my cart and I'm debating whether to bite the bullet and just order the goofy thing, or put it back in the save for later. I'm not going to find it cheaper locally, and I have some excess in the food account, so dh shouldn't squawk too much...but life would probably go on I don't buy this food dehydrator I'm coveting.

Hi Abe: What will this food hydrator do - like the dried apples and bananas etc. which you get in the bulk foods - will you use it for lots of things? Don't think I know anyone who has one - really curious.

Dried fruit, veggies, meat, jerky, fruit leathers, and herbs. You can even dry frozen veggies bought on sale.. I THINK I'd use it now.. didn't use the one I had twelve years ago.( I also had a LOT more distractions then) That's what's holding me back. There are cheaper brands, and models, but from what I gather, they're cheaper because they're junk. This one is a mid-line model.

Sounds like it will be handy for soups etc. and if you have a big family to cook for. Dried fruit for baking will be handy. I guess you have to balance the cost of the item against how useful it will be to you.:)

My crystal ball, it is broken...how's yours? :innocent:

There are two on Craigslist that I could call on; they've been there for at least two weeks. I tried to email about one that's closer, but they never answered. I can't tell the brand; the photographed it upside down and did not say. If its and off brand, might be hard to get extra trays and liners..if it works at all. I will probably call before i buy, just so I know. Lots going on this weekend suddenly, so it would be hard to arrange a meetup.

There's only the two of us at home so I wouldn't be in the market for such an appliance. We do some chili sauce with our tomato crop which was huge this year and maybe some jam but don't get into anything more involved. I don't have any knowledge of Craigslist or E-Bay - have never bought anything on either one but I've heard of people who say they've found good bargains - so happy hunting if you decide to go ahead.
 
Remember that children's classic, The Five Chinese Brothers? Amazon is one of those sites that make me feel like the kid who was hired by the brother who could swallow the sea. Remember how that kid started out just being happy gathering treasures close to shore, but soon got too far from shore for his own good as he spotted even shinier goodies way out there? Amazon is designed by people who read The Five Chinese Brothers...:flowers:
