Star Wars On Trial

I know that many readers on this forum probably dislike star wars, consider the novels a waste of shelf space, etc... however, this book adresses pretty much all the issues people have with the star wars novels and movies. It's a very interesting read. Has anyone else read it? I'm a huge star wars fan, but i tried to read this with an open mind. My dad dislikes star wars, I bought it mostly for him to read.

Sounds quite interesting. I'm not a fan really, I've never read the books and only seen the movies once.

Are the issues dealt with ones of logical problems within the SW universe, or general hatred of the stories?

It does look interesting. I've been a Star Wars fan ever since I was kid.

Looking at the extract from the book's website I can't tell if the book is meant to be serious or "tongue in cheek"?

The "official" forums for the book are full of spam and porn links too

yeah, unfortunately the forums can't really be used to discuss the book. but the book, while containing jokes, and being amusing, is pretty serious. It discusses wether women in star wars are portrayed as weak, if the politics of star wars are elitist, if star wars has driven real sci fi and fantasy off the shelves and that Sw pretends to be sci fi but is fantasy.
