Stephen King Movies

Thinner was so very bad. The Shining is awesome though. I love the book and the film, though both are completely different. The mini-series was quite good also, closer to the book but still not as good.

I liked Apt Pupil, and Stand By Me, The Stand, Silver Bullet and the Shining although The Shining scared the....out of me. Even to this day I am not able to watch it alone :)

As for myself, I'll probably go with The Green Mile. But then I remember that I haven't read the book it's based upon yet... :)

Guess I'll have to go with The Shining to say that I've read the book too. Although I prefer the mini-series to Kubrick's film. Yes, throw your stones.

I agree with you) I like mini-series too :whistling:, and The Shining and The Green Mile awesome movies

Well I have not read Shawshank redemption, but it is on my list, and I ADORED the movie. Actually only found out recently it was a Stephen King Story.

Turner Classic Movies is airing a documentary on Stephen King this Monday.

In A Night at the Movies: The Horrors of Stephen King, which premieres on TCM Monday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m. (ET), Stephen King discusses how he discovered terror at the movie theater. He takes viewers on a journey through many aspects of the horror genre, including vampires, zombies, demons and ghosts. He also examines the fundamental reasons behind moviegoers' incessant craving for being frightened. Along the way, he discusses the movies that have had a real impact on his writing, including Freaks (1932), Cat People (1942), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), Night of the Living Dead (1968) and The Changeling (1980).

Which Stephen King movies do you consider his best in comparison to the books the movies are based on?

The book is different. Nevertheless, the movie is great. Kubrick`s "The Shining". One of my favorite films.

Hrmm, let's see here:

Misery
Christine
Pet Cemetery
The Green Mile
The Shawshank Redemption

Those are my personal faves at least :)

Pavia is best known for directing another Stephen King adaptation, 1997's The Night Flier.

That's a very wide definition of "best known". :innocent:

The Monkey used to be one of my favourite King stories, though, so it'll be interesting to see.

The Shining, Christine, and Children of the Corn (yes, Maximum Overdrive, too!) are probably my fav King stories made into movies. Children of the Corn scared the hell outta me as a child. :D
