Just finished reading "Shakespeare" by Bill Bryson.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not the usual Bryson but still written in an entertaining and interesting way. He takes a look at Shakespeare, what we know of him, what we don't know of him and some of the mysteries that surround him. An interesting look at the period and contemporaries of Shakespeare. Recommend it to any fan of Bryson or to anyone with an interest in Shakespeare!

I do like Bill Bryson's book - always good for a chuckle. Not a Shakespeare fan though, but I still may give it a read.

Yes, give it a whirl. I only picked it up because I was curious as to Bryson's handling of the subject. Must say, if I 'd had a teacher with the 'Bryson' style in my younger days, I might have been a bit more interested in Shakespeare! Be interested to hear what any Shakespeare afficienados thought of it.
