Suggestions on how to set up a table at the library

Hello all,

I am doing a Children's Author Showcase at my local library. They are giving me a table to talk about the book but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make the display interesting for kids and parents. Has anyone ever showcased their work at their library? Is giving out bookmarks too typical? Stickers? Should I frame up some of the illustrations? Help!

I did children's story time at the library for a couple of years and I can tell you stickers and book marks never get old!I think kids like having something to take away with them :) For a display I would set up something eye catching and that possibly engages them in the story, depending on age range a simple craft or riddle? Kids are curious and want to come see what it's all about. I might can give more specific ideas if I had an age range and theme.

Can you get themes fabric to cover the table? A bag of artefacts? I have no idea what your stories are about, but if they are about a dinosaur who visits the doctor, then take a stethoscope along, and his hat that he wore to keep his head warm... And of course bookmarks (ones they can colour in... Make these) are essential!

Good luck ,it must be quite nerve tracking!

Thank you Ronny and SaucySailoress for your excellent suggestions! I am glad stickers and bookmarks are still a good idea because those are easy (and cute). I like the bag of artifacts too!Thinking maybe little button pins too? The book is for ages 4-8 and its the story of a little Chinese doll who travels from the mountains of China (via boat, donkey, train, rickshaw) to America in his search for someone who will love him. So there is a Chinese theme, modes of transportation....Maybe some pages to color in with crayons?
