novella said:I think I have a problem being serious about horror. I would much rather watch Shaun of the Dead and the Toxic Avenger than Friday the 13th or Psycho, for instance.
The annoyance with Friday 13th was that we had a silent killer that just went around killing people...for no reason.
Then, when Clive Barker made Hellraiser we were given a real baddie in a film. Aside from the way he looked, better than just some silent bloke in a make, the character (later christened Pinhead) actually spoke and he did not kill people for the hell of it - he killed for a reason and, even after death, his victims were never actually dead. Actually, he was a good guy too.
It would appear that Barker's forthcoming collection of short stories will get a double release this year. Originally the collection was supposed to contain a novella finally killing Pinhead off but the story has grown so much it's going to be released as an independent novel.
