It's the book based on movie. They just typed scenario. You will not find there anything, new. Anything that wasn't shown in film.

i didn't enjoy CoR as much as Pitch Black. i was actually kind of bored. Pitch Black is one of my favorites, i think maybe my expectations of CoR were too high.

oddly enough, i can't stand vin diesel.

what I want to know is how a movie like this can be rated PG-13, while a movie like amélie is rated R. I just don't understand how the MPAA operates sometimes.

i think it has to do with the sexual content. didn't the main male character in amelie work in a porno shop? i think there the porn references in amelie contributed to the R rating. i think thats lame, but it's the only reason i can think of without researching it

in a sense, I don't have one. I like a lot of different films for different reasons, but at the moment 2001: a space odyssey and brazil stand out in my mind.

i loved the book 2001: a space odyssey, but i slept through the movie. i probably would have loved it if i had seen it 20 years ago, but having watched modern (tech advanced) movies, i had no appreciation. sucks but it's true.

understood, but maybe you're too confident in computer generated imagery? my opinion is that it's given more critical acclaim than it deserves. I admit it's great for creating new fantasy worlds and all that jazz, but when it comes to substituting characters it just looks phony, especially when I'm watching two computers duking it out, like in matrix: revolutions. believe it or not, the old ray harryhausen (clash of the titans) stop-motion animation felt more three-dimensional than neo's dragonball-z showdown with agent smith. I don't know, I guess I feel all special effects are worthy of being called art, even the stuff that nobody does anymore. if it were up to me though, I'd flat out ban CGI from horror films.

Brazil is a movie that comes back to me again and again. I can't explain its attraction--in terms of technology and narrative its been surpassed lots of times, but what exists in my imagination is the urban nepotistic class system that rules the world. I think its one of the few futuristic movies of the 80s that has legs.

totally agree with you here, bobby. cgi characters are terrible- although the characters in the Final Fantasy movie were quite well done. matrix was a joke, the harry potter movies are laughable, the list goes on. OMG - i LOVE clash of the titans! i've seen that a million times, it was my favorite movie when i was a kid. harry hausen was a genius. saturday afternoon watching HH movies- ahh the memories!

i don't feel i'm too confident in cgi. i know what's crap and i know what's decent. and i'm not afraid to admit that my modern entertainment "education" affects my ability to appreciate older movies- breakthough or not. i appreciate the fact they were revolutionary in their day, but that doesn't mean i'm going to be any more entertained or impressed by them now.

it's no big deal. you can't choose to like something that you don't like.
