This book The Da Vinci Legacy was published in 1983, by Lewis Perdue he claims that Dan Brown plagiarized the whole comcept and most of the book when he wrote The Da Vinci Code.

Here is the website that I found all this on, I checked out The Da Vinci Legacy so I can see what I think for myself about the books. What does everyone else think about this?

Well I haven't read the Da Vinci Legacy, but if the Da Vinci Code was ripped off from it, then it must be pretty awful. :p

The book actually reminds me of Gabriel Knight 3, which is all about the Holy Grail, but I never managed to finish it as the control system made me travel sick. But maybe it was stolen from that. Or maybe, it's just such a common wee tale that they're all stealing it from each other and no one can remember who originally thought it up anymore.

Oh Man, Gabriel Knight rocks!!! It rocks socks!! :D

Hmmm, new successful book is suddenly claimed to have been plagiarised from another author .... only heard that one about ten million times :)

The interesting similarity was the repetition of a historical inaccuracy regarding the material within the codex.

There are some similarities but it seems some have to do with historical facts. That's hardly plagiarism.

Or, to put it the proper way, the earlier book contained a historical inaccuracy which was the fault only of the author and has never been seen elsewhere. The fault is repeated in the latter book.

I suppose it explains why it's such a terrible book though. He could hardly rip off a good one, as it would have been more popular and he would have been rumbled too soon.

The Da Vinci Code is actually a plagirism of three different books. 1) The Da Vinci Legacy 2) Holy Blood Holy Grail and 3) Angel & Demons (but in this case Dan Brown ripped off himself. which is bad, but not uncommon).
He got the Da Vinci codex and paintings and symbolism aspects of the novel from number one. He got the Holy Grail Mary Magdelene married Jesus thing from number two, and lastly the basic story line (Robert Langdon meets case connected a cryptic secret society, Robert Langdon meets girl who helps him with the case, Robert Langdon uses his Art History expertise to solve such case and impress girl) from number three.
