The "Death" Thread

Gizmo beat me to the punch. That is my favourite death scene, for sure. I'm even doing a Quotagram puzzle on the exact same line he's taken from the movie.
:p

Yeah I love this movie! It's so glorious! :D

By the way these people in the Killer movie Forums are really crazy and they all have this huge signatures so that you always have to search for the text!!

Nope. The best one was Tommy Lee Jones at the end of Space Cowboys! Now, THAT was a death scene. Tear-jerking and laughing at the same time!

:D

Cathy

Yeah but does he have a cute ass? => No way! Just some wrinkled something.
So look at handsome Maximus => cute ass all over. :D

Oh yes, Russell Crowe rules in rugged deliciousness in that movie....
yummers.

Space Cowboys didn't do it for me for some reason, but I think Tommy Lee Jones is a terrific actor.

You guys reminded me of another wonderful tear jerker death scene. Bruce Willis in Armageddon when he forces Ben Affleck out of the shute and blows the bomb manually himself. The goodbye scene between him and his daughter played by Liv Tyler? Oh God, that was soooooooo sad.
:(

P.S. Yes Gizmo, the signatures on Killer Movies is weird, but you get used to it. Almost a "phallic" symbol for these folk, eh????? :D

1 ) the death-scene in Thelma & Louise
2 ) the death scene in Gladiator
3 ) william wallace's death in Brave Heart
4 ) death scene in Dracula-- not sure this one.

I'm not quite sure about my favorite death scene, but I'd have to say my least favorite would have to be Sydney Carton's lame death in Tale of Two Cities. I'm not going to talk about it, other than say, obviously Dicken's made a BIG mistake.

The death of Donnie in The Big Lebowski...genius.

Or:

The death(?) of Donnie in Donnie Darko...righteous.

Basically any death scene involving a character by the name of 'Donnie' is alright with me.

Ooo...This is the exception that proves the rule:

For sure my fave death scene is the end in Blade Runner. Where the andriod ( don't remmber his name ) is up on the room with decker. They are both panting in the pouring rain and the andrioid is about to die. Only in the last moment he knows what life is and hour precious it is and gives that little speach before he lets go of the dove. Amazing amazing and amazing, also very beautiful.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams ... glitter in the dark near Tanhauser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost ... in time, like tears ... in rain. Time ... to die."

Spellbinding, fo' shizzle!

Wow, I'd totally forgotten this place existed!

Yes, I love the last scene of Donnie Darko of the alternative universe, as he is caught laughing in his bed room and the Pratt and Whitney engine (complete with febbanaci (spelling?) spiral printed on the front!) comes crashing down onto his room and him. Everyone wakes up from a rapidly regressing combined dream, the music the general ambience is spot on!

Donnie Darko is one of the best films ever. And I also agree with ou be on the Roy Batty death-scene. Brilliant.

Cheers

I'd like to start by saying that I want to fade away as slowly as possible. Death is cheap and dirty and as we only get one life I believe in having of much of it as possible. My older brother was one of those idiot teenagers who didn't want to grow old and ended up hanging himself when he was twenty one. What an utter arsehole. His son is now 27 but never knew his father. My mother died when she was 62 and that was another waste; she was such an active, social woman with so much in her future. You can never get too much life. I'm quite looking forward to my 120th birthday.
As far as films go check out the surfing death in Dark Star.

Now, 2 LOUSY death scenes:
1) John Travolta in "Phenomenon". I love him as an actor, but he was a horrible ham when he died.
2) Star Trek film with Capt. Picard + Capt. Kirk. When Kirk dies and just says:"Oh my"... HORRIBLE. I've been watching Kirk since the 60's and that's it????????? Yeesh
:(

I have no interest in the timing or circumstances of my death, but I have a near obsession about the hereafter -- there had better be one or I'll be awfully disappointed.

As for film deaths, James Cagney going in up in a blaze of glory at the end of "White Heat" is always a satisfying end.

Irene... very interesting that you hold interest in the hereafter. An obsession of mine as well.
I really believe that there is something after "hell on earth" (? )
Also, I truly believe that if there's someone you absolutely CAN'T STAND on this planet, once you're both up in Heaven (?) you both won't care at that point, because well, it's rather silly and pointless at that stage, eh?

Billy...... toss in my ex-husband while you're at it!!!
I have these very SICK ideas of attending his funeral and making the WHOOPIE dance in front of all the relatives.....

When my father died I had a huge party/drunken orgy. Since he died I've visited his grave a couple of times to have a little dance (part in celebration, partly to stamp the earth down so he can't get out). People may think that's a bit sick but to them I would say, "you didn't know him."

Coming soon to a creative writing MB near you! Billy Oblivion, The Postscript Diaries: Why My Father Was A Total Git.

Seriously, you wouldn't want to know. There's enough misery on this MB without me talking about my childhood.
