The Human Centipede

You can watch it on pay per view and in hd. That's how I saw it. IFC Films releases their movies into theaters and on pay per view simultaneously. I also watched Lars Von Trier's Antichrist that way as well.

Most of the gross stuff is implied rather than shown. So don't feel let down when it don't live up to the hype.

Ok. I'll keep that it mind. Thank you! Since this is the "first sequence" and he's just getting his shit together... according to the interview there'll be more stuff going on in the sequel. Maybe there, it'll be gross? :p

So I decided to see this after all. I mean, it's getting talked about, so I thought I should at least know what it is that people are talking about. And... well...

...Really, between the bad acting, the utter lack of plot, the "Because I'm a mad scientist, mwahhaha!" motivation (Six's or Heiter's, I'm not sure) and the supposedly ominous ending when obviously
the backup team will be there in 10 minutes
, all I can do at this point is quote Bill Hicks. He was talking about Basic Instinct, but I think it fits.
Bill's quick capsule review: Piece of Shit. Okay now. Yeah, yeah, end of story by the way. Don't get caught up in that fevered hype phoney fucking debate about that Piece-of-Shit movie.
"Is it too sexist, and what about the movies, are they becoming too d-d-d-d-d..."
"You're just confused, you don't get, you've forgotten how to judge correctly. Take a deep breath."
"Huuh -"
"Look at it again."
"Oh, it's a Piece of Shit!"
"Exactly, that's all it ever was."
At least Nekromantik dared to be gory. The Human Centipede is just... pointless.

Are you referring to horror movies in general? Or just The Human Centipede? In the latter case, I was surprised such a movie was even made. Apparently it's not nearly as extreme or gross as the summary would have you believe.

Hi Anamnesis: I think I was reacting to this one although I really don't care for horror movies - I have watched some when I was a younger. I did watch a movie, caught it about half way through (on our new free movie channel) yesterday - The End of Time - with Arnold Schwazzeneger (or however his name is spelled). The photography was pretty amazing but the story itself seemed a bit silly but that could have been Arnold's 'acting', however, having said that there was a feeling in the movie that the devil was unstoppable and that part for me was frightening.

I just can't be bothered to see this film, despite being a horror film. I gave up with those sorts of films after a friend and I watched Hostel one night, years ago, thinking it might a slasher type film and it was just horrible, horrible stuff. I can't really do torture-porn in films. As far a literature goes, I can cope with splatterpunk (a la Laymon) but not to the levels of Brite (Exquisite Corpse).

Do people really enjoy these films? I guess some must - but is the appeal more in the boundaries of taste that are being pushed, and in observing such, than in actual pleasure/thrill of being scared etc?

So, second verse, same as the first?
Pretty much, except from what I've read, most of the gross stuff that was implied in the first one is shown in this one.

I think it's this.
