The sporks of wrath

You always get these people on forums writing their introductory thread, saying how great the forum is and how much they enjoy it and how they're definitely going to stay forever, and everyone welcomes them and then they never come back. So, I thought I should maybe wait a bit before writing one, make sure I planned to come back first. But I have to say, I really hate writing these things.

Anyhoo, my reading interests are mostly sci fi and fantasy, but I read outside the genre a lot too. That 3 for 1 table at the entrance to all the bookshops at the mo keeps luring me in with its siren song, so I've been reading a lot more plain old-fashioned non-fiction stuff of late. Plus, I try to get round to reading all those books that everyone says you absolutely have to read, but there's so bloody many of them they'll surely be the death of me. :(

For sci fi, my favourite authors are Alaistair Reynolds, Iain Banks, Douglas Adams, Frank Herbert. For fantasy, George R R Martin, China Mieville, Melanie Rawn, Sherri S Tepper. I also greatly enjoy a well told, far fetched tale, or fib, so we'll bung in Robert Rankin and Tom Holt too. Other authors include Alexander Mccall Smith, Daphne DuMaurier, Jane Austen and I can't be bothered to think of any more.

When I'm not reading I'm mostly perfecting my Dimac techinique, though I'm currently branching out into the realm of Japanese spork combat, or Goku-Sporku. I have a part time job as an international jewel thief and I live in a castle with my horde of angry rabbits. I object most strongly to spam in all it's nefarious forms and I think that after typing all that I greatly deserve a martini.

* hands you a martini *

*and a spork*

Welcome! I, too, like Jane Austen. She and Mark Twain are my favorite "classic" writers.

In case I've yet to say it, Welcome Litany!

PS- I think one of your wabbits has escaped and turned an ugly shade of silly. Please retrieve him ASAP.

welcome you be... as Master Yoda might say. He might not, of coarse ... but then he MIGHT. He might also add hmmmmmmm. He might not. We will never know, really.

errr... WELCOME! :D

Regards
Martin

I'd welcome you, if it weren't for the fact that I hate you. Because I do.

Sorry.

Cheers, Martin :D
