An Excerpt From The Wages of Sin Author: Audrey Forrest Carter

As calmly as possible, I said to Alex, “What’s going on? I thought we were going to have a quiet evening. I’ll sign the papers, Alex. But not now, what’s the rush? Let’s eat first; I’m hungry, aren’t you?”
Well, someone would have thought that I had shot his momma in the ass as hysterical as he became. With the way I was feeling, I didn’t give a flying flip about what anyone thought. My main concern was my throbbing headache, which was worst than any migraine I had ever had. My patience with Alex was wearing thin. As I was about to go crazy on him, he gave me a Kodak smile and firmly said, “bitch, you should of already been knocked out by now. Doc Jamison said that shortly after you took a few sips of your ‘doctored’ drink, you’d be instantly knocked out.”
“Knocked out by now? What are up talking about Alex? Did you put something in my drink?”
“You never cease to amaze me, Laura,” he gloated. “Don’t you ever get tired of talking and asking questions? Guess what? I’m tired of you asking so many damn questions, and I’m about to put a stop to it right now! That’s right; I’m going to seal those know-it-all lips of yours so you can’t be a thorn in my side any longer. You got that! I don’t know why I married you in the first place. You make me so sick!”
By then, I was so groggy. I could hardly keep my eyes open. I started to hallucinate soon after. Still trying to make sense of what was happening, I pleaded, “what are you talking about, Alex? Please tell me what’s going on? Why are you saying these awful things to me? Where are you taking me?”
Right before I lost consciousness, I felt the saliva from his wet lips, as he sucked on my right ear like a popsicle. By then, I feared the worst. It appeared that Alex was enjoying every minute of this sideshow. I was so drugged and intoxicated that I couldn’t recognize the two men who joined us at our table and were now laughing hysterically with him. All I can remember is that they helped him take me out the back of LaMirage; confined me in a strait jacket, and then put me in the back seat of Alex’s Navigator. I do recall that one of the men’s voices sounded familiar, but that was about it. To this day, I can’t recall who this creep was.
Still laughing, he leaned over me and said, “Laura, you’re going where I won’t have to be bothered with your ass for a long time. Finally, I’m going to be rid of you! Now, I can get a real mother for my children.”
To hear him make fun of me and treat me like a dog made me want to kill him!

Let's digger a little deeper into the characters dispostions and thoughts and you may have something. It's simple and direct and I like that, but we need some more emotions here besides blind rage and fear.
