i don't know, but maybe because i didn't live in this time and had no personal relations to that, except my mum and dad, they always talk about that!!! :D

I just watched a movie yesterday (German of course) called The Ex[periment. Was based on a true story about 15 or so men used in an experiment (duh!) to see how people react within a prison situation. Was a great study of human cruelty which is ascinating. Humans can be so base!

:eek: oh my gosh, i love this movie, it is awsome and so gruesome and cruel!! :cool:
 
I have seen those on the list except for Olympia.

My favourite is probably Das Boot, one of the best warmovies ever made. The extended version of Das Boot was actually sent as a TV-series, and is perhaps even better than the movie. I'm glad i never have to set foot in a submarine.

Oh, I'm not offended. I didn't know what to think of Goodbye, Lenin! myself at first, but it's really not such a bad movie, if you ask me. But you're right... Having a connection with that particular part of history, gives it a certain something more, or so I'm told.

yeah, but if you see SONNENALLEE, you understand what i mean!! sonnenallee is awsome and you even can follow without background, oh and try ENGEL UND JOE or CRAZY!! both pretty cool!!

I saw Der Untergang the other day and was a bit disappointed.

hmm... i don't know that! no, but the other ones are just really nice and i love the story of engel un joe
 
Gut

I can't give a top ten, but i loved Goodbye Lenin and Run Lola Run. I told all my friends about Run Lola, I think all of them saw it because of me. And I liked the music in it a lot, the animation, the pace, the repetition of the stories.
 
I've only seen a few German movies, mostly thanks to my German and film classes.

-The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari
-Gegen die Wand (Head On)
-The Comedian Harmonists

I really enjoyed them all, and will eventually get around to buying them.

Nosferatu: eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922)
 
I haven't seen many German movies, but they have been impressive.

Since seeing Das Boot I will never go down in a submarine.

I enjoyed Fitzcaraldo - wild, improbably fun.

And finally, the recent The Lives of Others I found very moving. I certainly didn't expect to feel sympathy for a Stasi spy!

Germanophilia? You're scared of germans? I take offense to that!

I've seen one german movie, The Station Master's Wife... I hardly rememberit except his wife was sleeping with others, and having dreams about trains and tunnels, and tunnels and trains, which in her cause would have been affection for her husband, since he's to do with trains hahahaha?
