Tradeback Date?

How long does it generally take for the tradeback of a newly released first edition take? Within six or eight months? My guess.

I am a cheap skate. I want to buy Haruki Murakami's new novel, 1Q84, but I am homeless. Does anyone know? :innocent:

I will likely enter my local BN store with my Nook in hand, log ino the stores free "read all you want" hour, and do the deed. I told you I was a cheap skate. A mighty mizer. A homeless hobo with a worn out cardboard sigh that reads, In Need of My Murakami Fix: Darwin Bless You. Ah, if only I possessed a magic seed, I would plant it and wait for the money tree to grow with plenty of Benjamin greenback leaves.

WTF? Are you trying to drum up sympathy for your "homeless" plight when you clearly have access to the internet and own a Nook. Get real.

Buy it or don't but stop wasting time with inane stuff like this.

Well said, Alix.

I also doubt he's homeless.

Agreed. Unless you define "home" differently. I just get impatient with the "LOOK AT ME" BS from time to time. I know better than to respond, really I do. Still...sometimes I just can't help myself.

Every Card-Carrying tightwad knows the key to saving money is to keep one's library card in good working order. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with your local library. Play nice and return your books on time, and they'll help you obtain materials from any library in your state. Usually for free, sometimes for a minimal donation for postage. The library is still the best deal around for devoted readers.:flowers:

Plus he can give himself sponge baths in the bathroom.

Tonight, in my visit to my local BN store, I raised the same question to one of employees and she informed that according to the new book's sales, the more remote the tradeback date. Sounds logical.

Seriously sparkchaser, you need to get a Rep button or a Thanks or something. I'd have hit you for points twice now already.

Did you ask if you could sleep in the store room?

I will picked that publishing house all by my lonesome. Maybe they'll hand me a first edition just to get me out of their hair.

Ah humour. Comic relief. Could you imagine me pacing about outside such a firm. What a kook. Sparks: I'll have you draw out the words to the sign I will be holding up. Now, Sparks, what, in your creative brain, will you write?

I think I just set myself up.
