Usernames!!!! How did you get yours?

No we can actually put it in the dogs bum ourselves. Its very satisfying. Vets can put it in themselves but a few need a little hand. We are the people that are in the back ground doing the work as the vet gets the praise :D

Halo is the name of the eponymous heroine of Alan Moore's graphic novel "The Ballad of Halo Jones". I really loved these books, so I usually choose a variant of the name for user names. Nothing to do with saints or religion!

Make sure you tie a string to it if you ever check a horse! Those things can get lost for hours!

Oh, and, in a burst of uncharacteristic creativity, I used my first initial and last name.

I keep things simple so I don't forget. Otherwise, my life would be full of post-its.

Not at our house. We hate our vet, but we LOVE the vet techs at his office. Why aren't you planning on sticking with it?

I suppose I've always liked the sound of this phrase. Plus I'm quite often in dire straits too, just like a couple of minutes ago, when I just found out that I've made a major mistake at work. :(

Although I'm familiar with them, I've never heard anything from the band itself when I started using direstraits. But I've since checked them out and they are bad at all, though their age shows...

I'll get back to being a little depressed... :(

Studying Vet Nursing. Though im not sticking with it when i graduate :)

Why is that? :) Veterinary Science was something I considered but couldn't be bothered to carry on Chemistry

I'm sure the nurses at our vets love me - all our conversations go along the lines of:

"What can you tell me about xxx?"

"Erm, what's that?"

I explain,

"Hold on, i'll get the vet for you"

:D

I research a lot for myself and thus know more than they do :p I ended up telling my vet more about one particular condition than he knew himself, as it wasn't common and I had discussed it at length with a specialist. Luckily I have fantastic vets who are more than willing to listen to suggestions.

sidebar....great book and great movie....i love hunter...sorry, carry on....
wait, i got my username from a canadian tv show....

Oh i dont know. I want to specialise in something equine but not sure what. I dont like working in doors that much. Feel confined. I just have to investigate other ways of using my skills of a VN. Vet Nursing is so far 50% cleaning 40% reception and paper work and 10% working with the animals :( I want to get my hands on a horse lol. Also the course i am on is so crap! We get sent all places on placement and the travel is not covered. I pay £50 a week to get to Perth and i cant get a job to cover anything as i am at the vets, i dont get paid there. Slave labour really!
Alwasys wanted to open my own livery yard...but its not something you do when you are 21!
We had a bulldog in today with hyperthermia. It was so hot today. His temperature was 41! its usually 39 or something.
Ahhh...i can take a deep breath after that rant lol :D

Why not work with a large animal vet? There's a lot of them around here and they all have assistants, just like the regular vets. You may have to do the occasional cow insemination, but they do work with horses too.

There's a Tool song called '- ions'. In fact I think that nick iss taken on here. Anyway I started with -ions or negative_ions and people kept asking why I was being so negative so I dropped that part. Little did they know it's the negative ions that are supposed to make you feel good. It's short and usually available.

The Manda bit comes from my name Amanda - it was shortened by someone I used to be very fond of, so that stuck.

When I was choosing a nick for a warhammer forum, I asked the same person what I should call myself and he stuck a Mage on the front.

Hence Magemanda

I got my username from a book (of course). Fistandantilus is a powerful archmage from Dragonlance, I mainly picked this name because not many use is as it is so long or they havent heard of it, so I dont have to do all that mucking around with numbers at the end of my name when i register on a site (and its a cool name)

Before i can specialise is anything i need to graduate as a normal vet nurse. Iv another 3 years to go to do that. If i survive this course i can do a masters in equine science. I do plan to work with horses but to do that i have to get this degree. I know a degree isnt everything but it helps a lot.
