I remember reading a series of books back in the 80's, and for the life of me I can't remember the author or any of the titles. There was a series of about 10 or so books. They surrounded a guy that started out as a farm boy. One day the space Army came through his town. Well, he was so impressed with their uniforms that he joined. Well, he ended up as a 3rd class fuse puller on a space ship. One day during a battle he was injured and lost his right foot and left arm. Well, being that he was an enlisted man being treated by military Dr's they ended up giving him a chicken foot and a right arm where his left arm used to be. Can anyone help me identify what series this is?
