What do you use as a bookmark?

Receipt

right now it's for a tuna sandwich but i can get pretty pricey

*gasp* I panged slightly
LOL. I have been known to use reciepts but I don't like them a lot. Too thin. I hate dog-earing books, but I only do it with ones I know I'm going to read a lot anyway (in other words, they'll get beaten up no matter what I do).

There was a time in my life when using the dog-ear was unthought of, but that's what I do now. It just happened. I hate borrowing books from people, because I'm scared I'll dog-ear it by accident and they'll kill me.

I use two bookmarks. One's from this place in Philadelphia called the Aspen Theater that my friend picked up for me while she was there. I found the other one at Barnes and Noble; it's red with black patterns on it.

And looking at my desk, I just noticed I have another one: it's blue with a big yin-yang on it. Can't believe I didn't find it sooner...

me? whatever's at hand.... which occasionally turns out to be my hand... i've actually spent the greater part of an afternoon walking around with my finger holding my place. it quickly became so natural that i forgot i was holding it, and thus forgot i needed something to mark my place, so kept forgetting to get a bookmark thing. my husband eventually rescued me with a business card he had in his pocket. he's good for that kind of thing ;)

I am using a list of all the books I have read this year at the moment - before that I was using a dummy theatre ticket I printed out at work.

I use almost anything I can get my hands on as a bookmark: anything from a scrap piece of paper to a folded stickie note to a library slip to dog earring it  to a bus pass (very convient if you are reading the book while on the bus as well:p) to a bus schedule to those tassled book marks you can get at the book store (get one everytime I get a new book  ;); I am a bookmark whore of sorts [it has to coordinate with the book cover, both the bookmark and the tassel]). The occasional "book wedgie" also works; sometime the book jacket too.

So to answer your question anything that is plausible for marking my place :)

I use the small post-its, the ones that look like tiny, colourful band-aids. I like them because the don't fall out and they don't get in the way.

"Get Fuzzy" page-a-day calendar sheets--they're stuck in every book I've read in the last two years. I'm glad I use them when I'm in class and not enjoying the discussion or the assigned reading...they're funny and keep me from staring at the clock. For at least a second or so...

Today I'm reading There will be dragons, and in it I'm useing a bookmark that has a pic of a beagle on it. Also the reason I bought the bookmark is because I have a beagle cross as a pet. :D

Oh I have a beagle!! I need one of those!!!

I use a bookmark with Tinkerbell on it

I have a cool "gold" bookmark with a quote from Winston Churchill on it. But right now I'm reading a book that has the silk thread bookmak right in the binding. I love that, so convenient.

I use dogears. They never fall out! :) I have a large collection of cool and beautiful bookmarks, but when you drag your books around with you as much as I do, they don't like to stay where they're put. I only use them on borrowed books. And truly, all books should have the "built-in" silk thread bookmarks, they're excellent.

*mrkgnao*

I use a fabric bookcover on all my paperback to protect them and it has a nice ribbon sewn to it that i use. If I cant use my bookcover on a book then I use one of the paper bookmarks i have picked up from the library.
