What do you use as a bookmark?

Fourth time I'm trying to type this. I keep pressing tab over and over agian

I keep losing (and finding) bookmarks all over the house. I just use a strip of a magizine or a strip from a nice, stiff piece of paper. I don't buy those expensive, nice ones, I might lose them. Or maybe I will... I don't know. As for hand-drawed bookmarks, I might do that.

NEVER EVER turn the corner of the page. I started doing that from my cousin long ago and the book never stayed completely down and when I open the book, it goes to a page that was bent. NEVER EVER do it. NEVER

I'm naughty. I ALWAYS ALWAYS bend the page corner EXCEPT when the book doesn't belong to me.

I used to dogear my books-- guess I got that habit from my mom. That's what she's always done. Now I just use whatever scrap piece of paper I can find.

Even though I got three bookmarks for Christmas, I have found myself using an old, bent Nolan Ryan baseball card. The card is worthless because if its condition, but Nolan was my baseball hero growing up, so I just can't bring myself to throw it away. My hubby tried to toss it twice as we were logging all of our cards (don't ask how many!) on a spreadsheet and organizing them. I stuck it in the cover of The Turn of the Screw to hide it from him and have used it ever since I started the book last week.

I use scraps of paper/notecards or whatever is around.

Recently I have felt extremely crafty and made my own bookmarks out of a picture of family or friends with some homemade beads from our local bead shop :]

I have this neat little gadget called "Last Line"
Basically a plastic clamp of sorts that has a long section of its middle cut out so you can mark the very last line you read.

I have to have a wide bookmark, as I find it very hard to read without underline the line I'm on (and hiding the other lines below it). I bought a hookmark off ebay a while ago, and I can't use it, simply because it's too thin. It's silly, but I just can't read unless the other lines below are hidden.

I have to cover the words below when something exciting or important is about to happen. Like if a killer's name is about to be revealed or something like that. If I don't, then my eyes just skip down to try to sneak a peak.

I usually use the receipt I got from buying the book. I'm in the habit of remembering what line I'm on though so i don't have any problems there.

At one point I had three of these. I can't locate them anywhere. No doubt they're stuffed in a drawer somewhere from one of the times when the hubby "cleaned". They are great and I really wish I knew where they were.
