What have you planted recently?

Since I stopped smoking and the electric bill is allready going through the roof ,I only dream of planting an attic full of ....:D
 
Contrary to popular belief, it isn't entirely legal here either.

Barry: can't you just put some in the backyard?

oh wait...not by seed I assume then? still pretty good....and get some pics....there is a serious shortage on pics of anything around here
 
The mater's are ripe

and tasty. I will save the seeds and plant next year. I had no problems with pests or disease with this variety - Rouge d'Irak.

Today I planted 5 new daylilies I bought at a daylily club meeting on Saturday. A few days earlier, I planted a pepper plant in a pot and also two six packs of portulacas in the garden among the daylilies and roses.
 
I'm so excited! This weekend I will be planting my first attempt at a vegetable garden. I'm going to try some tomato's, peppers, green onions, collards and some other green leafies and maybe some cucumbers. Probably some herbs too.

My yard is 100% sand so I had to have someone dig a big trench along my wall and bring in some garden soil. I wish I could just dig a hole and plant stuff but I have to excavate any area I want to use for planting.

I don't know much about gardening. Wouldn't that require building a containment system to keep the beds in place? That sounds like a big investment in material. Unless there is a way of raising a bed I don't know about, which is most definitely possible.

Tomorrow I have to drive down the stakes a little more and run a little bit of twine between them for a trellis (sp?) I got a little of everything. Lots of herbs and green onions. The poles are for green beans and cucumbers and I did some green peppers and a local variety of eggplant. One bush tomato and one cherry. :D

Yeah, you will need to build a structure but it seems to me that would be less work than digging out a trench.

Those look lovely, sparkchaser. It's definitely something to consider for future projects. It creates a nice, tidy looking garden. I definitely see the benefits. I have a very rocky spot that this would work perfectly for. You'd need a jack hammer to get through it. A raised bed would work perfectly there. Wood is very expensive here but so is hiring somebody for a day to dig a trench so I think it would even out.
