What is your favorite non-fiction genre?

I don't read nearly enough non-fiction, but am slightly obsessed with travel writing, and books that have a psychological basis, such as The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks. People are so fascinating.

Auto-Biographies written by...interesting people. Biographeis are nice, but reading of someones life and experiences through their own words is a very nice ride (even if they try and put themselves in the limelight or inadvertently belittle themselves--we're onyl human), versus an outward inspection. I recently picked up a book by Barack Obama, which he wrote before becoming a prominent figure in American politics, called "Dreams From My Father."

Since I'm currently reading It by Stephen King, I've only scanned a few pieces of it here and there, but it seems like an exceptionally good read. I'll give my full thoughts on it once I take the time to digest all of what there is to be read.

Anything relating to the arts/entertainment, although I do like reading about history and religion as well. I'll read biographies, but only if I hear good things about them or if they're by someone I'm interested in.

I have some very specific interests and selections. I don't read any books explaining the history of some wars or the psychology of soldiers after e.g Vietnam war and the movies like Pearl Harbor. I like books that explain truths, facts and administrative and corporate intentions behind those incidents . e.g. Execution of Charles Horman on which movie Missing is based and which explains the CIA plots behind the Chile Coup in 1973, and the the Documentaries like Fahrenheit 9/11 and The Money Masters explain the political and economic structures.

Most of my books are business/finance. In elementary school I LOVED encyclopedias. Also, when I was on a ship in the navy we had an encyclopedia set that I would browse through. Today, however, wikipedia keeps me up until 3 in the morning. I think I like encyclopedias better than wikipedia. When I click on "random article" in wikipedia, 99 out of 100 times I get an article I don't care about.

I like biographies, nature and science, with a good smattering of real, extreme, adventures thrown in there. I have no one favorite, I am way too eclectic of a reader to have just one.

For many years I have been interested in Holocaust memoirs.
The best I have read so far is Alicia: My Story, by Alicia Appleman-Jurman. It is absolutely amazing, and a huge adventure story. Very sad, like you would expect, but she was also amazingly heroic. She is still alive and giving speeches...I would just love to see her.

Hello,

If it is non fiction then i prefer management related work, it helps me in understanding my job better, currently i`m reading Moose on the Table by Jim Clemmer it is very interesting.
