What other hobbies do you enjoy?

Apart from reading, what else do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy watching films and TV series such as the X-Files. I've also recently started to re-kindle my interest in photography and digital imaging.
 
I like watching movies - both in theatres and on video. It helps that one of my sons works part-time at a video store and has unlimited free rentals :D

I also do some running (well, more like slogging) and skiing, love word puzzles (esp crosswords and logic puzzles), and of course poking around with the computer. I'm also an avid ice hockey fan. We used to have season tickets to the Canucks (NHL team), but they're way too expensive now. So now, we watch mostly on TV and get to only a few select games.

A growing interest in Films especially 'World Cinema' and we have an increasing number of alternative cinemas in the UK either small art-house cinemas or provincial theatres who show films once a week or more.

Music is my first love and it will be my last ;) all kinds of classical, opera, rock & pop, Latin etc. Fortunately both my kids are very musical & look likely to take it up as a profession ...... cool, wish I had

Rugby Union (and for all you peeps across the pond that's American football for real men ;) ) Played as a boy to mid 30s then refereed for a few years. Now I'm just an informed spectator with an expanding waistline :(

Bit of web design and mucking about on the Internet etc do a bit as part of my job but it's kinda fun as well (big thumbs up to Darren for this site BTW)

Camping, cycling and the outdoor life anything that keeps mind & body active really.

Ambition ....... to learn the Argentinian Tango. Described by Clive James as "making love whilst standing up with your clothes on"

In the Fall, Winter and early Spring (and hopefully late spring if the Stars are doing well) its Hockey when I can find a game, or reading when I can't. Spring and Summer its mowing--we've got about ten acres. I write a bit year round. I enjoy playing and listenting to Bluegrass music and going to Bluegrass Festivals.

DVD's are a favorite--Classic Hollywood: Bogey and Bacall, John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara--delightful. Live theater has become an unattainable joy.

I try to keep my vocabulary sharp too so, what exactly is a peep? I'm assuming it has something to do with American's peeping in at UK websites?

Oooops! one of the things which doesn't travel on the Internet of course is colloquialisms :(

It's from a Brit TV comedian/comedy actor called Harry Enfield who specialises in short sketches type shows some of which became full length shows/films e.g. the teenage 'Kevin'. A few years ago when he first became popular, he created a Greek fast food vendor character call Stavros who called people 'peeps' in the collective sense (e.g. "listen to me, all you peeps out there"). The term 'peeps' became a popular modern colloquialism for a few years. I'm just too sad to let it go :)

I thought the term "peeps" is quite wide-spread? I'm not British myself (obviously), but I noticed that it has come up in more than one conversation I had with someone from the US.

It's always possible that they came at it from a different angle though...
 
Got it, "Peeps," didn't mean to come over as defensive, but I guess I did. It the same as if you were in my town and someone said, "Jeet chet?" You'd probably say, "Huh?" Then they'd say, "You ain't from around here, are ya?" (BTW, the proper response is either, "Yeah," or "Naw, d'ju?"--no, did you?") Go ahead and groan. It's a desperate fight to keep your grammar from deteriorating in the Midwestern U.S., to be sure.
 
I watch a lot of films and TV series and like Darren I am a fan of the X-Files. Unfortunately, in the USA where I currently live, we've already had the series finale, but there are many interesting new series. One of them, "Monk" is my favorite: a private detective who's very sharp but suffers from all sorts of phobias (microbes, crowds, etc.). It's really funny: anyone seen it yet?

And I maintain a web site which is my main hobby! :)

I like to do the daily crosswords, some needlework, and spending time outdoors (esp gardening & swimming in summer, alot of walking in winter -- helps keep away the doldrums).
 
Gracewings! Haven't seen you in a while. I hope you're doing well. In the fall I like to take walks, play backgammon (I'm teaching my 10 year-old) and watch the Saints play. They're doing great this year! I've been watching a lot of TV lately, too much really. I enjoy watching "Trading Spaces" on TLC. It's become quite a phenomenon. I'm hoping to get some ideas for my home. Do you guys across the ocean have that show?
 
I think we have a lot of shows that are a lot like Trading Spaces... It's kinda cool to see what you can do with a room...

I love Monk. I watched it a lot the beginning of the summer, but fell off in the end and am just now catching up on the episodes I missed. I think it's hilarious.

I was also a Trading Spaces addict for a while but am rarely home to see the new ones anymore. They did have some of the bad ones on today, which I enjoy watching just to see the people corroborrate what I have been saying about the awful room design all along.

Aside from reading, watching decorating disasters, and satisfying my Ebay addiction, my only real hobby is pastels. I don't like to paint, too hard to fix, but I love my pastels. Matter of fact my fingers are blue right now.
 
I love going to the movies and buying DVD's. I like to listen to music and I'm interested in graphic design and art (although I'm no good at drawing). I like shopping, even if it is only 'window' shopping.

In fact there at too many good TV series and it interferes with my reading;).
I thought 24 would be a one season series and here I am, already hooked to the second season...
I also love watching reruns of "Keeping up appearances" on BBCA
I have never watched Trading Spaces for more than 10 minutes, maybe I should give it a try, it seems that a lot people are addicted!
 
Tell you about my hobbies. I love Cross stitch that make me relax and enjoyable. I have load kits wait to sew!! I love to watch films and sometimes go to cinema. Of course I am crazy surf the nets and found something new which I enjoy to learn. I am so terribe when I go shopping especially book shop and stay there for hours to browse the new books!! Oooohhhh!! At last one of my hobbies that I can't live without..... read books.
 
Other hobby's... gardening, baking, the beach, making web pages, board games, walking... guess that's about it. I'm pretty boring, really :)

I'm absolutely addicted to those! It's just such a shame that they cost so much... They do get boring if you overdo it, and if you can't afford new ones, that's pretty horrible.
 
I like Gundam modeling though I am not any good cause I dont have really any resources at my disposal. I also enjoy watching TV and listening to all kinds of music. I am always at my computer ALWAYS.....or seemingly always.

Have either of you played a new game called Cranium? It looks interesting to me but I haven't shelled out the thirty dollars yet.
