What was the best book you read in 2005?

Does this book have anything at all to do with his memoir Running With Scissors?

It's another memoir, only it takes place many years after Running With Scissors. There are small references to the Finch clan, but no one from that book makes an appearance in Dry (apart from Augusten, of course :)). If you enjoyed RWS, you should pick up Dry; it's just as hilarious as the first book, but there's also some drama thrown in. By far, it's a more "mature" book than Running With Scissors.

Probably Difficult Loves by Italo Calvino. It includes numerous stories about bizarre expressions of love. My favorite story involves a man who revisits his home town for the first time in years. Since he left he started wearing glasses, so no one recognizes him. When he realizes this he takes them off and then he can't recognize anybody else, but everyone starts to recognize him.

so many good books.... but i think i'd have to pick George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series that i only found last year, and enjoyed thoroughly! the last one, A Feast for Crows did not satisfy my need to have more of this story.
