Whats the longest you have ever spent buying a book

Hi. I am just wondering houw long you have ever spent finding the correct book. I am not sure about myself but I have often spent 2 hours in a library or book shop. How about you?

Oh! I take FOREVER in book shops. Just a normal shopping trip can take me pretty much half of a day. That does include moving from one book shop to the other tho

It always takes me awhile, I like to visit with friends that work there, have some coffee, watch people, look at every aisle, talk with strangers about what they are looking at or recommend, look at many, many books and finally narrow it down to what I can afford, pay, stop for more coffee with new friend to talk about all our new books and finally 4 hours later I'm home.

I spend about ten hours in each bookstore I visit. The first nine and a half hours I spend looking for my own book on the shelves. The last half hour I grab some kind of coffee drink and cry.

That could have been me speaking! Im like a kid let loose in a sweetshop, I have a basket-full immediately, then I have to spend a few hours making some serious decisions about how much I can afford to spend ( although I can always justify the money spent on books if pushed) A book shop has just opened up right opposite our condo, could be very dangerous!

I spend hours shopping for books online. I don't need a lot of time when I go to a book store because all I'm going to check out is the sale tables, the best seller rack, and the table they set up wtih the new arrivals.

I spend a longggg time and in the end, cant decide over which to put back. So i stand around pretending to be choosing which one, while really im testing dads patience..and i dont stop the 'pretend contemplation' until he suggests that i buy all of them!! (his money)

I can spend hours and hours just browsing in a book store if I'm not looking for anything particular, on the flip side I can just go in and get out if I know exactly what I'm after. It just depends on my mood I guess.

Amen to that!. The wife knows that it will be awhile and that she should do some shopping. To me, it isn't like going to Wal-Mart with a list. It's almost ritualistic with me. I really enjoy the whole experience of it. If I'm rushed or anything, I won't buy a book-ruins it for me.

I'm lucky that my other half actually doesn't mind the time I spend in bookshops. I'd immediately zoom into the scifi/fantasy section, wander towards horror/mystery, then the fiction area for general fiction, and then scan the shelves for my favourite magazines. If I have time, I'll float all the way down to politics/history, and then the New Arrivals.

She'd zoom straight to the cooking/recipes, handcrafts, Chinese History, chick lits, maybe IT manuals.

I would love to spend all day in bookshops, but I get kicked out after I spend too long in them now, I think Ice has a set time limit for how long I'm allowed in the library too, at a certain point she jut drags me off to the counter

My hubby is as bad as I am at the bookshop, we both disappear for hours browsing around, getting snacks and coffee. Since he's been gone that's all he has me send is books, boxes of them.

Recently, I've been browsing and buying online, but now I'm getting back into reading more seriously, I quite enjoy wandering the library or bookshops in my lunch hour. Even if I already have a stack of books in mind I enjoy just browsing, making mental additions to the TBR list.
The longest I've ever spent trying to choose a book was a couple of years ago when I had absolutely no idea what I wanted, I'd read everything I had in mind. It wasn't too long by some of your standards, probably just over an hour, but I did walk out with my now favourite book ever. Probably more luck than judgement, but maybe I should spend ages reading blurbs over and over trying to decided more often!

I like having shiny new things to look at and read, so I usually buy books one at a time, unless there's offers on, so that each book I read is one I haven't had sitting around for ages with me getting used to it; I like to get something and enjoy it while it's still 'novel' . So I end up in bookshops or libraries more than I perhaps need to be. No harm in that though!

i always come to the library prepared with a list since its a 30 min drive. bookstores.. hm. it depends. there was many a time where i just went there randomly and i'd either see a book and remember that i've wanted to read it, or just browse until i discover something interesting. i can spend hours in a library/book store. the only problem with librarys is that i have to remind myself that its not like a store and i wont have months among months to read them

I am the worst!! In fact the other day, I stopped in to get an audio book to listen to on my road trip which I was leaving for right then. I was just going to run in, grab a book, and hit the road. Well, 2 1/2 hours later, I finally was able to get out of town!! It was nuts!!
