Looking for the name or author of a series of books about a English longbowman around the middle ages. Something to do with his father had a holy relic (Spear?) hanging up in his work shop. Some men came after it and stole it. I think they killed the father and the story goes on of the son fighting against the French in the journey.
 
I think you're talking about 'The Spear of Lepanto' by Leon J. Radomile. Although the description you gave is not quite the plot of the book, it had to do with a holy relic being a spear.

Thanks but that's not the series I'll keep at it. But it was considered a holy relic in the book. There was also a castle siege in it.
 
It's the Grail Quest series by Bernard Cornwall :cool:

The first book is called Harlequin however it was published under the name The Archer's Tale in the US. I really enjoyed that particular series :)
