what's your book shopping process?

I try not to buy too many books for myself, and put them on my birthday or Christmas list instead
hehe that's wise ..
I'd rather getting more expensive things as gifts =)

My inlaws demand a gift list from me each year at Christmas. I use Amazon's wish list which you can email. I get exactly the books I want every year. I'm very lucky to have such great inlaws.

I did this with my family this past Christmas..worked beautifully..but I had to refrain from checking my wish list to see what had been purchased:D

Most of my book buying has been online, but I often go to Hastings and browse there for either catchy bargain books, used books, or just interesting titles-- if i find something that isn't bargain or used that i like I'll go to amazon to buy it, since it's always cheaper, tax and shipping free. If it's the new Stephen King novel or some other important book I'll make a trip of going to the book store to buy it.

Most of my Amazon.com buying is actually from the used markets though. I've been able to get some really good quality books for as cheap as $3.50 (including shipping)

I normally only go to the book store when I've got a certain title in mind. Although, if I am feeling down, a good look through the book store will bring my spirits up.

I normally go to the library though.
