When To Start Reading A Series...

When the series must be COMPLETE. I mean, what if the authors dies midway during his writing of the series? That would suck royally.

Name a couple of completed series with the end book already printed:

The Rabbit Series by Updike
The Dark Tower Series by King
The Hitchhiker's Trilogy by Adams
The Border Trilogy by McCarthy
The Baroque Cycle by Stephenson

Please add more COMPLETED series that readers should consider. Peace :D

Nice to see you again Pontiac.

The Millenium Trilogy by Steig Larsson. Maybe my favorite trilogy of books.

I lost interest in the Dark Tower series, never made it to the end. So I suppose I can forgive writers who get bored of their own work and don't bother finishing...we're only human.

It was, but the author died after only finishing the third. I read somewhere that his widow wants to publish the fourth volume.

Larsson wasn't actually married to his partner, but she is in a battle with his family now over money and rights to unpublished stuff. Sad really.

Yeah, I remember reading that even though they lived together for years, according to the swedish law, she inherited nothing because it was all in his name only. Very sad indeed.

I actually read some Harry Potter fanfic that demonstrated better writing talent than J.K. Rowling possessed for her final books. ;)

Heh. Don't authors have the right to license their book as a product? I seem to recall that the Star Trek Mega Monster has something like that. No one is allowed to publish a book that disagrees with canon. Something along those lines at any rate.
