Totally not want to be a character for.

I'm listening to the Lost symbol by Dan Brown and definitely would NOT want to be one of his characters... poor Katherine, poor Langdon.

I would not want to be character in Stephen King book. They seem like mostly creeps. I would also not like to be character in a Shakespeare play as I could never figure out what the hell anyone was talking about.

George R R Martin. He has stuff all regard for the well-being of his main characters and even less respect for the bit players. I'm pretty sure he has a wheel of death in his office that he uses to decide who gets to die that day.

I agree, Litany. If he doesn't kill you, he'll maim you for sure or kill/maim the ones you love the most.

George R.R. Martin's books are technically classified as fantasy, but I think of it as more "alternate history." There's very little actual magic in them.

By the title, I thought this thread was going to be about something else...

I'm gonna second Stephen King characters based on The Stand, DT, and a couple others because you never know.

I would definitely not wnt to be a Brett Easton Ellis Character... they're all seriously disturbed, or get horrific things done to them.

Terry Goodkind. Unless you're partially to some misogyny in conjunction with a spot of rape and a touch of beastiality. And you'd probably find you never got a resolution to your life, either.

how about Jonathan Harker from "Dracula" who would want to be stuck there in that creepy castle/forest with Count Dracula!

Philip K. Dick....Generally by the end of his books the main character has lost his mind or has such bad paranoia he thinks everyone is out to kill him. They usually lose everything or live in a post apocalyptic land and keep the company of unsavory characters.
