After The Red Pony and Grapes of Wrath (both school-assigned), I'll never pick up anything by Steinbeck again.
I love Thomas Hardy's poems but I cannot get into his novels at all.
I tried to get into Joy Fielding. I read through two of her thrillers; both times the heroine has a turbulent relationship with a sibling (which gets very neatly resolved in the last chapter) and the killer turns out to be the person the heroine was sleeping with. MEH.
