Who likes Star Wars?

good point krys. i do agree that ewan macgregor is a great great obi wan and he is lovely to watch. mmmm i particularly like his light saber........

And how come there is no mention of midichlorians (spelling is probably wrong) in the Luke Skywalker trilogy? And how come there in the future the special effects aren't as good? :p

True Star wars Geeks have no part of the crap that calls itself Episode I and II. I even refuse to watch the idiotic redone versions of the original three, because they're just wrong.

And yes, I too have Star Wars items around the house (what else did you expect for someone named Chewie?), but I can't overlook the terrible acting and the terrible writing and the terrible storylines of Eps. I & II.

Oh, and what the crap are midichlorians?

I'm with jenngorham....I have to see eps III just to see the finish, and then I'll too pretend as if eps I, II, and III don't exist...already pretending the first two don't exist.
 
I wish george lucas wouldn't tamper with the old star wars films. especially inserting CGI characters and changing the music around. I don't like that. he didn't even direct V and VI, so I think he's overstepping his artistic authority by "updating" them. a lot of other people worked on making those films, too. but, I mean, if he's gonna do it--and, legally, he has the right to--then he should at least release the original versions on dvd so we have the option to purchase them.

The dialogue in the original three movies is pretty wierd at times as well.

But ye the new movies has been a huge disappointment. The only good thing in episode I+II was Christopher Lee.

Er, have you actually watched the original three lately? Especially some of that insipid dialog in Return of the Jedi? *shudder I think the dialog is just in there because you kind of expect that in a movie but its really just a vehicle for the special effects.

And believe it or not I agree with bobbyburns about the original movies: Dammit George, set them free! That is, if you haven't thrown them into the furnace.

I've got my old unedited VHS tapes that we get out now and then but the DVD's are SO much easier to rewind. :rolleyes:

I'm happy i have saved my old tapes as well. The original version is the best. I dont think i have ever met anyone that think the "improved" version is any better than the original.

I especially hate the scene in episode 4 where Han Solo is talking to a bounty hunter in the bar in Mos Eisley. Originally Han Solo shoots first and kills the bounty hunter, but in the "improved" version the bounty hunter shoots first and miraculously misses at close range. The original fit better with the character Han Solo.
 
oh and the scene in the improved version(i think III) when we "first" meet jabba the hut. the cgi jabba sliding around is just toooooo stupid.

Its not as bad as eps I & II. Not great, but not as bad.

I'm with you & Bobbyburns...why can't he release the original originals on DVD?

How about that new band in Jabba's palace in Eps. VI? Argh, they're almost as bad a Jabba sliding around. Greedo shooting first was definitely weak.
 
The audience in the cinema I was at laughed when he started jumping around. This should tell Lucas something. :rolleyes:

The digital band in episode VI is my favourite pet peeve. In my opinion the only good thing about the add-ons is the full figure of the snow monster in episode V (it wasn't digital) but I think it may have ruined the suspense of the scene anyway.

I think the Jabba sliding may have been improved in the recent dvd release.

I'm not going to see episode III in the cinema but I may rent it.
 
yeah, I'm working on getting a bootleg copy of it. I hate watching movies in the theater... there's always some asshole who ruins it by talking on his cellphone or making dumbass comments.
 
I wonder if Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and whatshisface would have done the series if the first episode had the Ewoks in it? I mean, that one bites, I forget what episode # it is.

I also don't like the digital improvements. I especially don't like Jabba sliding around like a giant slug. He was repulsive enough when he didn't move. Why couldn't Lucas have left well enough alone? Maybe it was to try to draw in a new generation of SW fans, who wouldn't be impressed with early '80s SFX technology.
 
Mark Hamil (Luke)? I think Harrison Ford was the only one with any acting credits to his name at all at that point. The other two--as well as most of the rest of the cast--were unknowns. So yeah they'd have done it--Ewoks and all. I guess Jawa's were bad enough.
 
Thats like saying supernovas are hotter than zippos. Not only was he an acting god compared to the rest of the cast, he was apparently the only one who kept them going during their difficult on site shoots. We may not even have Star Wars without Alec Guiness.
 
I was just watching the Ep3 trailer for I don't know how many times, but it's always on a screen somewhere where the everything is out of earshot. So until now, I've never seen the Ep3 trailer in its entirely. The trailer I just saw had snippets of Alec Guinness in Ep IV.

Anyway, when I first heard that Lucas wasn't going ahead to do the sequels (Eps VII to IX) I was pretty dissappointed. But seeing how the prequels turned out it may not be a bad thing. :)

I so wanted to know how his version of post Ep VI would look like, if for nothing else than to undo Kevin J Anderson's evil work in the Star Wars universe.

Maybe all he needed to do was to hire a director to do his films, someone else to write the screenplay, while he concentrated on the story.
