Who likes The Sound of Music?

Yay! My favourite musical! My random thoughts:
1. I thought that Liesl in the movie was in no way 16 years old.
2. I found out that most Austrians are unfamiliar with the film.
3. Both Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrew still look somewhat the same as their characters in the movie after all these years.
4. Did you know the fellow who played the eldest son (second child) grew up to play Spider-Man in the old TV series?
5. The 4th child (Brigitte) always seem to get a lot of screen time, and seemed to smile at someone off camera in their party goodnight song scene. I always thought she must be a favourite of the director or something.

And I love Julie Andrews. :D

My mother used to watch this movie all the time, so I got to see it a lot when I was younger. I really like musicals and this one is no exception. You have to like the songs in this one.
It's been a couple of years since I saw it last, so it's not completly fresh in my memory, but I like the story. Think I have to see it again sometime.

I only got round to seeing this for the first time last year! Everytime it was on TV, my family would groan, "Oh, not that bloody thing again!", so I never got to watch it. I don't like many musicals (My Fair Lady is my fave) but I enjoyed this. The bloody songs get stuck in your head for ages though. Didn't like the ending - it was too abrupt for me. I wanted to see what happened to them, and if they reached safety.

I always complained when my mom would plop me in front of the tube and force me to watch it when I was a kid, but the truth is that I really liked it

I taped it and watched it on my own. Many many times. It got to the point where my family didn't want me around watching the film with them, because I can recite the script. Then they'd want to shut me up when it got to the singing part because I can't sing, but couldn't help myself.

Also, did you know that not all of the film was not shot in Salzburg?

No one in Austria knows this movie. Except people living in Salzburg.

I was laughing tears when I first saw it (in English class at school).

Now I'm a student in Salzburg and all these crazy tourist are bothering me with stupid questions about movie locations.

I loved this film/ musical too. I used to watch it all the time but haven't seen it for a few years now. However, I still sing the songs from it occasionally. They just pop into my head. My boyfriend always tells me to shut up and stop singing. Not sure if that's down to the songs or my awful singing voice!

I knew this would happen. Just because I replied to this thread, I've now got "Climb Every Mountain" stuck in my head.

"The Sound of Music" is definitely one of my top 5 favorites. The others I really like are "The King and I", "Westside Story", "Oklahoma", and one that doesn't really fit here - "Woodstock".

I have this movie on VCD, DVD, and moved them with me everywhere (well, everywhere is exaggeration), together with that movie Amelie, War and Peace.
Sadly, I seemed to lose the ability to see it for one more time, well, I still could, but sort of fed up with it at the moment.

Once saw Julie Andrews attending to a celebration party or something. Wow, I just like her demeanor/deportment, graceful as a scenery or a painting.

I grew up on The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins & Annie & although I don't watch them very often any more, I still love them :D

My Nan even gave me the LP Soundtrack to The Sound of Music which I've still got at home :)

My sister made me watch it a lot. I didn't like it at first (wanted to watch other movies), but it kinda grew on me.
