Will you vote this year?

some girl from the poll came up to me today and asked whether I voted. I said no ... but I might as well have slapped her. immediately I felt the stare, like at that moment I was clubbing baby seals with the liberty torch. people make it seem like you're obligated to get out there, get a piece of that pie while you're still around to gobble it up, but that's all fucking bullshit.

Arrggghhh those party political broadcasts really scare me :( Channel 5 banned the BNP one apparantly, thinking it would spur more racial hatred...

How democratic. Glad we live in a democracy...

All views should be allowed, not only the "good" but even the scumbags like the BNP should have a voice. Who should decided who can have a say and who not?

*SIGH*

Looks like the postmen have assumed this mantle.

It was in the news that postmen were refusing to deliver political mail from the BNP to the electorate. Sack the postmen, I say: they get paid to deliver mail and not to filter it.

As others have said, I always vote because I feel I owe it to the people who suffered and died so I could have the right to vote.

We had the postal vote this year, so I duly made my cross, signed a declaration saying who I was, got someone to witness my signature and write their own name, address and then sign it, put the vote in envelope A, (with the correct barcode showing), sealed it, put it in envelope B, placed the declaration in front of it with the correct address showing, sealed it and took it to the post box. Blimey! It would have been less hassle to just toddle off to the local church hall to vote. I pity the people who live alone, who have to go and find someone to witness their vote. What a palaver. :)

You are right. I would fire them. I think that is disgusting! Postman should not be allowed to decide what mail I get! If they really object that much to the BMP they should do something about it in a democractic pro-active way. Form a protest group of something.

I definitely will go and vote, nothing would stop me. I want my country to have the best possible representatives in the European Parliament, possibly the fewest communists, socialists and populists.
I also hope that our present Parliament will be finally deactivated this year, and Poland gets rid of its to existing governments and we'll have the right government. Then I also go to vote to help it happen.
BTW, I don't agree with the opinion that people should go to the elections because they have such rights. It's just an opportunity, which enables us to have a free choice what to do. Nevertheless, it should be remembered that staying at home is also a choice and a way of voting as well.

I try to vote, but we have a ton of elections here, so I sometimes miss the small ones. I'll definitely be voting in November, but I haven't decided to vote for Kerry or some 3rd party wacko. Since I live it Texas, it doesn't really matter (Brits: look up our electoral voting system. It is screwed up.) so it's just a protest vote. I don't always vote for everything on the ballot tho, when you have a 4 to 8 page ballot it's hard to keep up with everything.

it seems like no matter what the outcome, our government is still run for the benefit of the few and the special interests, not the people.

In the time I spent there,I have decided that I love your country. Denmark comes a close second. Bahrain comes third. :)

cant change things......

man has voted for many a years, and many things have been done, but even more has not. if i vote i will be of a majority group, if i dont i will be of a different group. either way i feel my life has been the same as usual, and i think no man, or men can change rule or correct this earth. we are imperfect and we just cant do as much as some of us think we can. so i have to say, no i wont and cannot.......vote.

Mile-O-Phile, you're a sweetheart :) and you've exquisite taste for countries...But my patriotism isn't as great as to stop me from seeing that our Parliament, previous government (but we are still paying its members!) and even president are woth nothing...
Bobbyburns, I don't know which country you live in, but it cannot be worse.

true, but the problem is global. to compare polish oppression to german or american is a waste of energy. there is only oppression. there's no solving it in one region of the world and not the others.
