Yet another forgotten title

Just last year I read a series which I highly enjoyed but already the name has left my mind. The story centered around a race of winged humans and their king and queen neither of which have their wings. His never grew, i think, and hers were cruely removed by the man who killed her mother. There is also the woman who is (or was) in love with the man who became king but she ends up pregnate and is taken in by a race of faun type creatures. That should be enough info I think.

I believe you're looking for a trilogy of books by an Australian author called Sara Douglass.

The first is Battleaxe, then Enchanter and then Starman.
