Mmmm, I think I must agree with steffee. Not one of Koontz's best efforts. I enjoy reading Koontz, personally, and read anything new by him, but he can be overblown and waaayyy overly moralistic in his writing. Velocity is one of his books in which he goes too extreme in this direction. Read...
You know, I think one of the problems with this book for King fans is, conversely, how fast-paced it is. We all griped about how he rambled, went off of tangents into characters that ultimately led nowhere, then when he gives us a tight, action-packed thriller, we perversely wish it was like...
I'm not sure, DS. I know it's being sold out of some record store in Alabama, so I'm sure it's either one he put out himself, or it was done by a small local label.
Not impressed with the women in this competition. I thought Paris was a shoo-in, but she's not been as impressive as I thought...
I did look him up, thanks. I found this link: http://www.wbhm.org/Tapestry/bands/TaylorHicks.html to three of the songs from his album. Very bluesy and soulful. Good marketing for his new album!
Ha, not so much anymore. They performed an awesome disappearing trick, disappearing from the Idol stage to a jail cell. Personally, I don't think they should have made it to the final 12 cuts anyway. It was pretty obvious they were just keeping them in to make some drama.
I am still...
I just finished Already Dead by Charlie Huston. GREAT book! Pulp noir detective/vampire together in one tough package. Part of a planned 5- or 6-book series. Highly recommended for detective and vampire fans!
I KNOW! Everytime they come out of the audition rejected, we're always ... "wait for it, wait for it" because we know it's coming. It never fails! Who IS deluding these poor people into thinking they can sing? Because the amazing thing is that you can tell almost all these people honestly...
I find the streamlined, one-person POV he uses in this book quite refreshing. His earlier works--while I enjoyed them--were meandering and used POV's and plotlines which ultimately did not move the story along. I like the fact that the action moves swiftly.
I think it's fine that the...
We enjoy it too. The kids like it and we can watch it as a family so that's nice. I keep hoping each season there will be a truly original talent...you know, someone with an unusual voice, that will shine out from the rest, but so far natch. Maybe this year. That gray-headed Joe Cocker guy...
Some friend. I have friends like that, too, though, that our friendship will stay intact as long as we don't get onto certain subjects. Some people can't figure out being open-minded and have a willingness to look at subjects without prejudice equals not conservative or liberal but smart! By...
Wow, I am normal! I am not happy unless I am jugging at least two books, sometimes more. I actually went through a dry spell after Christmas and didn't have anything to read. I frantically searched through Amazon and the book forums I belong to and came up with several titles. So now I am...
Hi Ganondor,
I think there are probably a lot more movies out there about the living dead than books. Two movies I mentioned in another thread are 28 Days Later and Shaun of the Dead, two great takes on the genre. I don't know why you couldn't use movies as a reference, they can be cited in...
I'm sorry, but I'm going to be the dissenting opinion here. I think we are inundated with advertising. I think it's hard enough for adults to separate fact and fiction, let alone children. The other day I was in Target and heard two college guys having an animated conversation about which Axe...
I loved Rutger Hauer in LadyHawke. Of course, his seminal role was in Bladerunner. It's too bad he was relegated to B-movie status later in his career. He was beautiful in Bladerunner, and could have gone toe-to-toe with Harrison Ford in acting if given the chance.
I like 28 Days Later...
Dang, you guys are being tough on this site. Actually, I think it's a nice idea and they are just asking for a nominal fee to cover their time. They list what their success rate is, and don't guarantee a successful search. I thought it was very interesting reading. I enjoying reading the...
I just read this article about the Buffyverse characters going to new TV shows. I don't know. I really loved the Buffyverse shows, and think it will make me sad to see them in new shows. The only one I will probably watch, however, is Kitchen Confidential. I have several episodes recorded...
