White Teeth has been on my TBR list for ages now. I have it stored away somewhere, but have yet to get around to it.

Travel writer says he made up parts of books

I'm sure there are some people who would. I'd always thought of 'travel writer' as one of those dream jobs. There are bound to be people who would travel anywhere, regardless of how hairy the area is. Good point - that is odd. Surely he would have to claim expenses, or justify his...

    Hello all

Welcome to the forum. :) Life of Pi is a great book. I also read The Alchemist years ago, but wasn't too taken in with it. I haven't read any of the others you've listed.

    Books set in China/Japan?

Oh wow, that brings back memories!! I watched that as a young kid, and can't really remember anything except that I enjoyed it. I haven't thought of that show in years! :D Have a look on Amazon - if this is the same show, they have the entire series on DVD.

    Yann Martel: Life of Pi

I loved this book, too. It's been a while since I read it, and a few days ago I was searching for it to give it another read....but I can't find it anywhere. I'll have to track down another copy, as I think I'd pick up alot more on the second time around (especially knowing how it ends).

Kim Edwards: The Memory Keeper's Daughter

I was a bit disappointed in the book. I thought it started well, and the idea behind the book was interesting, but it just ran out of steam towards the end, IMO. I'd hoped for something a bit heavier, and dramatic.
